Event Description
This Three-hour workshop offers an intensive exploration into Macroeconomic Analysis and Budget Analytics of Pakistan, designed for government employees, students, and anyone with a keen interest in the nation’s economic landscape. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of key macroeconomic indicators – including how GDP and inflation numbers are calculated – and delve into Pakistan’s economic journey through a historical lens.
The workshop emphasizes practical application, featuring hands-on case studies using real-world data from official Pakistani and international sources, which participants will analyze and visualize in Excel. Through guided discussions, attendees will interpret data trends, understand their implications for the economy, and engage in forward-looking discussions on Pakistan’s economic challenges, policy priorities, and future prospects.
Pre-requisites
Participants must have a laptop with Excel installed. No technical background is required, but participants should have a basic understanding of working with datasets.

Our Trainer

Zafar-ul-Hasan Almas
Zafar-ul-Hasan Almas is an expert in Public Finance and Macroeconomic Policy with experience within the Government of Pakistan. Having served as the Joint Chief Economist at the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives and as the Chief of the Macroeconomic Section in the Planning Commission, he has had an impactful career in finance, planning, budgeting, and macroeconomic affairs. He has also held the position of a Joint Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan, where he contributed his extensive knowledge to national economic strategies.
