Funding Support for Senior-Year Research
Projects at LUMS on Future Tech Skills
atomcamp, in partnership with MHRC, is funding 5 senior-year projects at LUMS to support original student research on future of tech skills in Pakistan.

atomcamp, in partnership with the Mahbub ul Haq Research Centre (MHRC), is inviting research proposals from LUMS students on the theme of Future Tech Skills. This initiative is part of our shared mission to encourage original, impactful research on the rapidly evolving landscape of technology and its influence on the labor market in Pakistan. Through this program, atomcamp will provide both financial support and mentorship to selected projects, enabling students to contribute to critical discussions on how emerging technologies are reshaping work and skills in Pakistan.
This is expected to be a 6-month project spanning from October to April, offering a focused timeframe for students to delve into their research and produce meaningful outcomes.
What You’ll Get
Selected projects will receive both financial and non-financial support to successfully conduct their research:
• Funding: Up to PKR 100,000 per project for logistical and research-related expenses.
• Mentorship: Regular check-ins and guidance on research direction, design, and data analysis.
• Industry Connections: Facilitation of interactions with industry professionals and experts to gather real-world insights.
• Research Dissemination: Support in showcasing research outcomes through an endof-year exhibition, attended by industry leaders and academics.
Research Themes
Funding is available for research on the following themes:
• Tech skills market in Pakistan.
• Freelancing market and its evolution in Pakistan.
• Impact of emerging digital skills on Pakistan’s labor market.
• The adoption and impact of tech skills among non-tech graduates in Pakistan.
Eligibility
Open to senior-year undergraduate and master’s students at LUMS.
• Students from all schools and departments may apply, provided their research aligns
with the specified themes.
• Both individuals and groups may apply.
• Each student can only participate in one project.
Application Requirements
Each proposal should include:
1. The theme your research aligns with.
2. Research questions and hypotheses.
3. Motivation for conducting the research.
4. A detailed research methodology
5. A financial proposal with a breakdown of costs and timeline for expenditure.
Selection & Funding Process
1. Students submit proposals through the online form.
2. atomcamp will select 5 projects for final funding and support.
3. Funds will be reimbursed in phases
Research will be supervised by LUMS faculty, with regular check-ins by atomcamp.
Mandatory Deliverables
Selected students must:
• A detailed final research report (max. 10 pages).
• Interim progress report (1 page)
• Presentation of findings to atomcamp & MHRC.
• At least one non-technical output (e.g. blog, short write-up, infographic)
