About this Course
Course Description
Logic is the study of reasoning and argumentation. It helps us to construct effective arguments and to identify weak ones. Critical thinking enables us to better express our thoughts, ideas, and beliefs. The basic purpose of the course is to enable participants to think clearly and critically. The participants will understand the basic concepts such as: Arguments, premises and conclusion, Deduction and Induction, truth and validity, statements, problem-solving, language and its functions, informal fallacies, inductive generalization, analogy, causation, explanations, etc.
Learning Logic and Critical Thinking promotes creativity and out-of-the-box thinking that can be applied in any field of inquiry and research, as well as in our day-to-day life. Logic and Critical thinking guide us in the direction of truth and away from falsehood. These skills are instrumental in making good decisions both on a personal level and at a group/team level.
The course would be of great help to students, researchers, politicians, journalists, and businessmen who make decisions and engage people in dialogue. This is also suitable for everyone who is vocal on social media and likes to share their point of view on any online or offline medium.
Finally, since the course deals with the principles of correct reasoning and argumentation and we have to construct and listen to arguments in almost every walk of life; therefore, this course would be useful for everyone.
